The Official Snowfall total for Chicago, IL for February 9th, 2010 was 12.6 inches, shattering the previous DAILY SNOWFALL RECORD 8.9″ for February 9th set back in 1885. Not only did this set a new daily record, but this also establishes a record daily snowfall for the month of February! The previous record daily snowfall for February in Chicago was 11.5″ set on February 18th, 1908 !! I was there

AND…CONSIDERABLE FALLING AND/OR BLOWING SNOW…FREQUENTLY REDUCING
VISIBILITY BELOW 1/4 MILE.

Another Big Winter Storm is Developing Sunday Feb. 7th thru the 10th 2010
As low pressure moves into the Ohio Valley on Tuesday Feb. 9th, while 2nd low will rapidly intensify off the Mid Atlantic Coast on Wednesday Feb. 10th, 2010. This Storm will possibly bring 6″ or more of snow to DC, Baltimore and on Feb. 10th New York City, Long Island and this time, Boston may see some snow.

Blizzard Warning-DC, Parts of NJ & Delaware-New Predictions Below
WASHINGTON DC WILL LIKLEY SEE 20 TO 30 inches + with blowing and drifting snow and a Blizzard Warning is in effect tonight into Saturday!!! First of all, a mix of light rain and light snow is falling all over the plains and midwest Thursday Feb 4th. As Friday the 5th rolls around, colder air moves in and 1 to as much as 3″ of snow is possible with isolated amounts to 4″. Winter Weather Advisories(purple shades on the map below) are in effect from SE Montana to Eastern Kansas, Most of Missouri and part of IL.
A large storm system will be moving across the central U.S., St. Louis will likely see 1 to 4″ by Friday evening.
SWITCHING THE FOCUS TO THE EAST COAST: ONE OF THE WORST WINTER WEATHER WARNINGS YOU CAN BE UNDER IS A BLIZZARD WARNING ! Washington DC, PARTS OF NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE ARE UNDER A BLIZZARD WARNING, SHADED IN RED FROM DC to ATLANTIC CITY TO LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ. PHILADELPHIA HAS A WINTER STORM WARNING WITH SOME HEAVY SNOW IN THE FORECAST.
Watching the exact track of this dangerous winter storm and timing is very important. A shift in the track further north would result in a widespread significant snowfall for NYC and a Winter WEATHER ADVISORY has been posted Friday Evening into Saturday, AND A WINTER STORM WARNING JUST SOUTH OF NEW YORK CITY AND very heavy snow is very likely around Atlantic City.
Computer models as of Thursday afternoon are predicting the amounts below for Friday night into Saturday:
New York City: One is predicting 2″, another 0 to a trace, and another 4″. ( This could change with a jog to the north) NOTE: WEATHER COMPUTER MODELS AS OF FRIDAY EARLY: NOW ONE SAYS 1″, ANOTHER STILL SAYS HARDLY ANY, AND A THIRD STILL SAYS 8″ !!! A WINTER STORM WATCH IS STILL POSTED FOR MANHATTAN, ALL 5 BOROUGHS AND LONG ISLAND.
Atlantic City: One is predicting 8″+, another 6″+, and still another 8″+. A Blizzard Warning is in effect with higher wind expected, blowing and drifting the heavy snow. THURSDAY WEATHER COMPUTER MODELS – 12″ FOR ATLANTIC CITY, 6″ ON THE NAM, AND 8″+ on another. FRIDAY MORNING MODELS SAY 8-12″.
Philadelphia: 3 weather computer models are predicting 8″ and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect. THURSDAY COMPUTER MODELS SAY 12″ FOR PHILLY, 8″ AT THE VERY LEAST ON 2 OTHERS. AS OF FRIDAY MORNING THE COMPUTER MODELS FORECAST 8-10″ ON AVERAGE.
Washington DC: one computer model is predicting 6″, another 10″, and still another up to a foot. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect. NEWER COMPUTER MODELS SAY 12″ IN DC, 10″ ON THE 2 OTHERS. A BLIZZARD WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT WITH 20 TO 30 INCHES EXPECTED AND BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW!!
Sussex Co. NJ: One computer model is predicting 4″, another SAYS 4″ and still another 2″. NEWER COMPUTER MODELS LOWER THE AMOUNTS A BIT IN SUSSEX CO. STILL SNOWY!
Islip, NY(central Long Island): one computer model is predicting 1″ and another 4″, still another 0 to a trace. (No Advisories as of Thursday afternoon) Feb. 4th. A WINTER STORM WATCH CONTINUES FOR LONG ISLAND AND THE NEWER COMPUTER MODELS SAY 3″ AT ISLIP, ONE STILL SHOWS NOT MUCH, ANOTHER IS NOW SHOWING 6″ AND WINDY.
