New York City(Manhattan) including the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens: All are under a WINTER STORM WARNING from 6am Thursday 2/25 until 6 pm Friday 2/26. Snow is now expected to develop around the morning rush and continue into Friday. The current forecast shows the heaviest and steadiest snow should fall from mid morning on Thursday into Thursday evening. 7 to 13″ with locally higher amounts are likely, especially in the higher elevations N & W of New York City. A foot is likely again in New York City. Believe it or not, Eastern Long Island may only see rain as milder Atlantic air moves into the strong low pressure area.
In the Winter Storm Watch area, late tonight 2/24 into 2/25 on Friday, snowfall is expected and it will likely get heavy for some areas. A MAJOR storm will bring the potential of significant snowfall in the Watch area, there remains a GOOD Deal of UNCERTANITY as to how far WEST the milder air from the Atlantic will mix into this low pressure system. At this time, Manhattan and points northward and westward will have the best chance to see the snowfall. This can very easily change and will have to be watched hour by hour.
